Research

The research activities of the group focus on laser-based advanced manufacturing technologies and photonic process engineering for high-precision industrial applications. The group investigates laser–matter interaction mechanisms using ultrashort-pulse and high-power laser systems for the processing of metallic, ceramic, polymeric, and functional materials. Current research includes additive and hybrid manufacturing processes, laser micro- and nanostructuring, laser surface functionalization, and precision finishing technologies. Particular emphasis is placed on process stability, efficiency, and reproducibility in digitally controlled manufacturing environments. A further research focus is the development of optical sensing and monitoring concepts for inline process diagnostics and closed-loop manufacturing control. Advanced spectroscopic and imaging techniques are combined with data-driven approaches and intelligent process analysis to enable robust and resource-efficient photonic production technologies.
