On 21 November 2012, the German Research Foundation (DFG) granted the extension of the SFB/TRR 18 "Relativistic Laser-Plasma-Dynamics" for 4 more years. The 16 constituting projects led by physicists from the universities of Düsseldorf, München, and Jena will be funded with €7.0 Mio in total. The speaker of the consortium is Prof. Dr. Oswald Willi from the University of Düsseldorf, and the vice speaker is ACP laser specialist Prof. Dr. Gerhard Paulus. "All seven project proposals from Jena scientists have gained distinguished reviews and have now been granted," Prof. Paulus explained. "In face of the intense scientific competition and the high costs of the required laser equipment, this success is of utmost importance for all involved physicists and surely for the Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena."
