On September 15, 2014 a dedicated German-Australian workshop with contributions both from ACP scientists as well as three members of the Centre for Ultrahigh bandwidth Devices for Optical Systems (CUDOS) will be held in Jena. The workshop is open to the public and will cover subjects on optical materials, photonic devices and nonlinear optics. In order to initiate a closer cooperation between CUDOS and ACP, the directors of both centers, Benjamin Eggleton and Thomas Pertsch, will sign a Memorandum of Understanding which will serve as a general framework particularly for establishing future joint programs in the areas of teaching and research between both centers. Further workshop highlights are the scientific talks of the Australian guests from CUDOS:

  • Prof. Arnan Mitchell (RMIT University, Melbourne), "Nonlinear adiabatic waveguide structures in lithium niobate for quantum optics research"
  • Dr. Isabelle Staude (Australian National University, Canberra), "Optical nanoantennas enabled by multipolar interference"
  • Prof. Benjamin Eggleton (University of Sydney), "New frontiers in chip-based nonlinear optics"

To register at the workshop, please write an e-mail to
