MEETING OF THE ACP ADVISORY BOARD


On May 26, 2015, the second meeting of the ACP advisory board took place at the Leibniz Institute of Photonic Technology at the Beutenberg Campus in Jena. The advisory board was appointed in 2013 by Prof. Klaus Dicke, the former rector of the Friedrich Schiller University. The board's primary role is to assist the ACP directors in the development of a management strategy and vision for the future, ensure that the proposed goals and achievements are consistent with the strategic plan, and serve as a vehicle for strengthening linkages between academia, industry, government and community. The board is presided by its speaker, Prof. Günther Tränkle (Director of the Ferdinand-Braun-Institute, Berlin). Likewise, a representatives from science, industry, and from the Thuringian Ministry of Economy, Science and digital Society (TMWWDG), as well as the University's vice-president for research offer their view and perspective within the board.

At the meeting, the center's scientific profile and future role was comprehensively investigated. Special focus was placed on the ACP's vision and future goals defined by its roadmap "ACP2020 - agenda for excellent photonics". Emphasis was also put on the new ACP research building at the Beutenberg campus, its future usage and the consecutive demands for infrastructure and laboratory equipment. The advisory board will formulate statements and suggestions, which will be forwarded to the president of the Friedrich Schiller University. By the end of 2015, the advisory board will prospectively be re-commissioned for another period of three years.
