INTERNATIONAL DAAD PRESS DELEGATION AT ACP

On March 8, 2016, the very recently opened ACP building proudly hosted a delegation of highly profiled international science journalists, coming among others from the US, UK, Japan, Brazil, Egypt, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Chile, France, Indonesia, Poland or Mexico.

This delegation followed an invitation of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to an explorative tour with regional focus on the science hotspots in eastern Germany. With cities like Jena, Dresden and Chemnitz having become attractive locations for scientific research, this one-week excursion gave them access to various types of facilities: universities, research institutes, companies and corresponding networks. The tour thus offered a glimpse of the research landscape in eastern Germany for an international science readership.

In Jena, the delegation first visited the new ACP building where they were welcomed by the Vice-president for Research, Prof. Thorsten Heinzel, and the Head of the International Office of the University, Dr. Claudia Hillinger. A lab tour and the direct contact with some of ACP's scientists gave some first insights into ACP's and ASP's research and education programs. Further stops at the tour in Jena were the Carl Zeiss AG and the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History.
