DEPUTY AMBASSADOR OF JAPAN WAS GUEST OF HONOR AT ACP

On 3rd of May 2018, the deputy ambassador of Japan, Mr. Yasushi Misawa, visited Thuringia and did not miss the chance to get informed about the photonics success story at ACP and at the Beutenberg Campus.

The diplomatic relations between Japan and the Federal Republic of Germany were intense since the surrender after the World War II. Both countries achieved rapid reconstruction and economic recovery after the war, and soon regained a significant position within the international community. Along with this development, bilateral relations have become ever more intense. Despite their affiliation with different systems, diplomatic relations between Japan and the GDR were finally introduced in 1973, which initiated a lively exchange. Japan and Germany, as the world's leading industrial nations, sharing the common values of freedom, democracy, human rights and the rule of law, as well as attaching great importance to international cooperation, maintain close cooperative relations in many international areas. The increasing weight of Japan and Germany in international politics offers both countries many opportunities to further develop their cooperation to solve the many tasks facing the international community.

During the meeting at ACP, Mr. Misawa and the local representatives exchanged their view on opportunities concerning the photonics sector in both countries in science and economy. Among others, miniaturized cameras, robotics, photonic solutions for the life sciences and challenges of aging societies were discussed. ACP is enthusiastically looking forward to deepen the already vivid degree of cooperation with Japanese educational institutions and companies.
