ACP welcomes Jun. Prof. Adrian Pfeiffer as new member

The community of ACP scientists welcomes Jun. Prof. Adrian N. Pfeiffer as a new member and principal scientist of the center. In June 2013 he joined the Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics where he now holds a Carl Zeiss endowed Junior Professorship. Dr. Pfeiffer will be heading a research group focusing on new directions in attosecond science and will complement the center's research in intense laser physics. A particular goal will be the upscaling of schemes for the generation of attosecond radiation to higher intensities. The unique laser infrastructure at the Institute of Optics and Quantum Electronics and at the Helmholtz Institute Jena will facilitate this endeavor. Another focus will be on the measurement of quantum dynamics in atoms and molecules with high precision and dispersity. The complex dynamics of photoionization and recombination in strong fields will be the target of these measurements. The newly established group currently offers two Ph.D. positions.
