ACP principal scientist Alexander Szameit will be awarded the Rudolf Kaiser Award ('Rudolf-Kaiser-Preis') 2014 from the Rudolf Kaiser Foundation. The foundation was established in 1987 by Dr. Kaiser, a former presiding judge at the Bundespatentgericht and a strong supporter of young researchers.

The annual Rudolf Kaiser Award is endowed with EUR 35,000 in price money. It is traditionally given to a young experimental physicist with already remarkable scientific achievements and before being appointed at a German professorship chair. With this award, the Rudolf Kaiser Foundation honors Szameit's outstanding scientific achievements in the field of simulation of quantum mechanical phenomena using optical model systems.

The awarding ceremony will be held at the main auditorium of the Friedrich Schiller University on January 15, 2015 at 6 pm. On behalf of the University's President Prof. Walter Rosenthal, the interested public is most gently invited. The schedule of the ceremony is detailed in the ACP event calendar.
